Logo Parodies That Speak The Truth

1. Describe the logo using the language of the Elements and Principles of Design.

 This logo is able to really catch my attention because of the contrast. The message that it is trying to portray is evident because the contrasting colours from bright green and yellow, to black and gray really catch your eye. The balance in this logo is really well thought out because it uses the right amount of objects and design so that the image really sticks out. 

2. Describe the symbols used in the logo. Why did the graphic artist use such imagery?

The symbols used in this logo are of course, the BP logo, and also the symbol of a distressed bird covered in oil. The BP logo is used for the readers to know who this message is being directed to, which is of course the source of this problem. They used the symbol of a distressed bird to show what they are doing to this Earth. The dripping oil that is covering the bird also accentuates the fact that this oil spill is hurting so many animals. It shows the environmental damage that BP is causing. This artist used very simple, yet striking images to catch the viewer's attention. This type of simple imagery is very effective and catches a person's eye. 

3. What does this logo say of BP's coroporate identity?

This logo shows the damage that BP has done to our environment. The dripping oil shows that BP has created this mess of the oil spill, and they aren't doing anything to fix it. The suffering bird makes it evident that BP is causing so much suffering for many animals and their environment. This logo is able to portray a simple message by using these symbol images and messages. It is communicating to the viewer's the BP has caused so much damage to our environment and they need to start doing something about it. 

Digital Actors

1.Is this acting or is this animation?

I think digital acting is a mix of both acting and animation. In order to make this movie, you need actors who can capture the movements and expressions of emotions that are needed for this movie. The animation and special effects are just something that help these characters come alive and make it seem realistic. Acting is still needed to portray the emotions that these characters are going through. The combination of acting and animation is what makes this film so extraordinary. 

2. Do you think that animated character should be eligible for acting awards?

Yes, I believe that these animated characters should still be eligible for acting awards because it is still acting. The animations are there to help these characters come alive and are there for special effects to enhance the detail of these creatures. These actors are extremely talented, and it is a lot of hard work to portray a character that isn't human. Their emotions and body language must be very different they must be able to make these creatures come alive. Just because these digital animations are added to the acting, doesn't mean that any acting skills are being lost. 

3. Do you think that human actors will ever become obsolete? Why or why not?

I do not think that human actors will ever become obsolete. What makes a film so beautiful is the artistic talent of a person to portray different types of body language and emotions. Actors are able to play a part that is completely different from their personality and make their characters come alive. I believe that these digital effects are just something to enhance the features of a character, and nothing will ever be able to substitute the beauty of human acting. Nothing can show as much emotion or passion than a human being. 

From Spray Can to Light

Street Graffiti
This is a picture of street graffiti created by the artist, Banksy. This picture really caught my eye because it isn't the usual type of abstract graffiti you see on the streets. This work of art is something different and makes you stop and think about what it means. This was created to catch people's eye and communicate it's message to them. This piece of art has a 3D effect and used the the essence of a brick wall to make the 3D effect on street graffiti more effective. It really is a beautiful piece of work because it isn't the typical type of street graffiti you usually see; and it really grabs your attention. It's sending out a deeper message about working maids and uses captivating techniques in order for you to really appreciate this work of art. You can really tell this artist spent a lot of time on this piece because of the detail and thought out process.

Light Graffiti 
As I was browsing through pictures of light graffiti, this one really caught my eye. This example of light graffiti really catches my attention because of the detail and 3D effect that it has. I've tried making light graffiti before, and it isn't as easy as it looks. To see light graffiti really come alive like this caught my attention. The techniques and artistic ability this person had to have amazes me. They used drawing of light to form this 3D care which makes it really stand out. The little effects of light and streaks of light in the background complete the picture by setting the mood of this picture. It helps exaggerate the speed of the car in a big city. 


Street vs. Light Graffiti
These two very different types of graffiti are both very artistic pictures. They are both pieces of art that two very different artist created. Both pictures involve a 3D effect which initially caught my eye. This 3D effect is extremely captivating and help us to really appreciate the picture since it stands out. The Street graffiti picture seems to have more detail and it creates a deeper message to attract the audience's attention. The light graffiti picture seems as though it's there just to express artistic ability and to catch a person's attention with this technique. Although these two pieces of artwork have two very different purposes, they are still an artistic creation and take a lot of talent and ability to create.   

Mashups and Copyright Law

1. What is this mashup trying to communicate? Is it technical experiment, social or political commentary, a comedic parody, or an abstract work of media art?

I think that this mashup is a social commentary. The television show GLEE, is very popular and this mashup was made to entertain the audience. This mashup includes many visuals to help draw the audience's attention.The choreography, vocals, lights, and everything in this video was made so that other people could enjoy it. I think that this mashup is trying to communicate that they just want to live their lives the way they want to. They're going to live in the moment and have fun because they want to enjoy their lives.

2. Did its creator follow or break copyright laws in its production?

No, the creators of this mashup did not break any copyright laws. This television show is known for doing covers of different kinds of songs that they do not own. Glee took two very different songs and combined them together to make it their own.

3. Do you think that mashup like this requires copyright permission? Why or why not.

Yes, I think this mash-up requires copyright permission. Glee is a very popular television show and it is broadcasted all over America. The reason why it is so entertaining is because they do covers and different variations of songs that they do not own, and they would need permission to manipulate a song that is not an original.
